Master chef or Master Fail

Back at home now far away from the fantastic food of Italy I figured I would tackle a recipe I have wanted to make for a long time. Ragu! Now our pasta sauce pales in comparison. We brown some beef and throw in a jar of pasta sauce we bought from the shelf of the grocery store. Convenient? Yes. Fast? Absolutely. But people I tell you, this isn't pasta sauce.

Today I had my head set that this was going to happen. I had my husband (Enrico) talk to his sister in Italy about the recipe and off we went to the Italian Store. Certain pasta and certain sauce cannot be found in regular stores.

With my groceries ready I set out following her directions. The whole process takes about 3 hours. 30 min prep and 2.5 cook time. This why opening a jar is much more convenient for us. I have to admit I was nervous. I wanted this to turn out. I wanted to master this sauce so I no longer have to settle for the sauce we have here. Nearing the end the house filled with an aroma similar to what I have had the pleasure of at Enricos sisters home. Oh please sauce turn out I thought to myself.

I am sure you have all seen the pictures from Pinterest where people make things and their picture of what it should be and what it really turned out to be is terrible lol like this below.
